World Biodiversity Association was also present, with the President Gianfranco Caoduro and the councillor Cesare Bellò, to the works of the First National Conference on Biodiversity from 20 to 22 May 2010 to the University La Sapienza, in Rome. During all the three days different round thematic tables were developed on strategic themes about the conservation of biodiversity in Italy. The works were divided into three thematic groups: "Ecosystem services and environmental risk prevention", "Adaptation and mitigation to climate change" "Biodiversity, Green Economy, Technological Innovation" and in two panel discussions: "Biodiversity and scientific research" and "Biodiversity, Green Economy, Innovation". In occasion of the Conference the National Strategy for Biodiversity was presented. The conclusion of the Conference on Biodiversity occurred in the presence of the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and the Minister for the Environment Stefania Prestigiacomo.“In spite of the efforts, the crucial themes for conservation of the natural resources in Italy had scarce significance; in particular, the land use and the energetic development politics and the mitigation actions of the impacts of the human activities on biodiversity” commented our President prof. Gianfranco Caoduro coming back from Rome.
“However, we note with great satisfaction that among the principal actions determined by the work groups for the conservation of biodiversity in Italy there are the two missions of our Association: increasing taxonomic research (global taxonomy) with the goal to increase the knowledge on distribution of biodiversity in our country and promote the conservation by means of actions of education and formation of the young people. Since its foundation WBA promote these goals by the following missions: Discovering Biodiversity and Conservation by Education” said Cesare Bellò.
