Research Missions
Since
2004, year of its constitution, WBA defined specific research
programs to increase the knowledge on the biodiversity of
particularly interesting areas from the naturalistic point of view.
The actual WBA programs are: Re.Mi.M.Ba. (Research Missions in the
Mediterranean Basin) and B.R.S.A. (Biological Research in South
America) through which animal and vegetal species are collected to be
studied and classified.
Hundreds
of new species to Sciences have been discovered during the recent
naturalistic expeditions of the WBA in South America.
These
activities are accompanied by the publication of the results of the
researches in a periodic scientific magazine of the WBA "Memoirs
on Biodiversity". In this English-language magazine the new
species discovered during the WBA expeditions are described from
taxonomists of the whole world. Following the next ones
